Lublin is a moderate-sized city in eastern Poland, a place you probably never heard of. But last week something notable happened. Yet another great get-together for Polish rollerbladers, the fourth edition of our annual competition called East Side Jam.
I've never missed a Chaz Sands Invitational since they began, with them never failing to leave a great impression upon rollerblading. Truthfully this year I turned up with the half thought of "Will it match the last 4 years?" How wrong I could have been...
Because of the rain, we had to cancel the event which was supposed to be outside. We went to our indoor skatepark to do a Freestyle Bowl contest. The competition was a big success and everyone really enjoyed his day. Our next event will take place the first weekend of July. Thanks to everyone who's supporting us!
We caught up with Sven Boekhorst one day before the Chaz Sands Invite 2011 contest started in the media room. We also got a few clips from Sven during the practice session.
We went around asking the Pros and the Public who would win this year's WRS Chaz Sands Invite. We got answers and a bit more banter. Make sure to check back on be-mag.com since we are still working on more video releases that will give you a more detailed insight into the action of the contest.
Richard Johnson send in some pics he took during yesterday's Chaz Sands Invite 2011. While you are skipping through the pics Richard is working on the exclusive edit for the event. So check back later to view the edit right on be-mag.
Some causal hotel drinking turned into something a tad more crazy last night...As you can see Quinny and a few others may have a hard time skating today. Some power naps are about to go down in the V.I.P room.
Razors UK Rider Scott Quinn flowing with style for his warm up for the Chaz Sands Invite 2011. Quinny will be competing in this years Pro Comp after winning SlammJamm 2010.
The Asian X-Games is the only X-Games that still hosts rollerblading. Although X-Games is a household known brand-name and people who dont know much about rollerblading might think it is the biggest competition for rollerbladers out there, it only has a 3-star rating on the WRS scale. That is obviously because of the amount of pros participating. It has less pros attending but more prize money (up to 10th place). But Asian X-Games is not about the money...
Some weeks ago the Asian X-Games took place in Shanghai. Different teams and riders from all over the world embarked upon the trip to Shanghai to represent Rolling in the best way possible.
The Karramba Extreme Jam has become an anual event for the action sports community in Eastern Europe. It doesn´t seems as if this year´s Extreme Jam is going to be an exception from the rule when it comes to offering the audience a great show and an amazing day of partying! Go to www.karrambafest.lt for more information! See you there!
Orlando, most of the time, marks the meeting point for all of us bladers here in the Sunshine State. Also, one of the main reasons we decided to hold the first of many strings of street competitions here in Florida. Meet up spot was Barnett Skatepark. A small park with a perfect mini and an across and down rail to warm up at. Waited there for about an hour for people to show up until we headed out to the first spot. Before we headed out I made sure everyone had directions and also got with the judges to make sure we were on the same page. Lending their knowledge about the sport and tallying points was Shima Pro Rider, Joey Chase; Razors Flow Rider, Sammy Chase; Be-Mag Drama Queen, Rob Squire; and local skate veteran, Nate Ent.
Quite honestly The Chosen Few Santee Street Comp was great. Nick Wood and Damien Wilson made sure the BBQ was running at every spot with hot dogs and cheese burgers on deck. Over $200 of BBQ was sold and that money went to best trick at all the spots. The BBQ was something that added a little extra vibe to the competition. Great skating, great food, great people, Santee style. So thank you for lugging that thing around all day. We ended up with close to 200 people and 40 competitors. The first spot was the famous Chicano Park line ledges.
The East Side Jam is an annual aggressive in-line skating competition taking place in Lublin, Poland. It is an exceptional occasion that offers all rollerbladers the opportunity to escape from everyday reality!
