So, be prepared to trek around. The spots this year are sick, I am stoked to be able to take you to them. The Contest: Septemeber 10, 2011 @ 2pm. We will have registration for the contest and a best trick at the park for some prizes. You will get the city guide for the KY Battle. Then, we make the city trek all over spot to spot. The time allotted for each spot will be 45 minutes, but the skaters will determine if we stay a bit longer or leave earlier, since they are the ones skating the event. We are setting up a digital database of all the skaters and the spots so we can get an accurate rating and scoring system for each skater's performance at every spot. I am really stoked at the idea since my wife is the one who egged me on to do it. I am just amped to keep doing this every year, and continue to see all guys come from all over and kill the spots that we love here in our city. There are 4-7 spots pending on time. It's time for the skaters to get qualified! Amateurs and girls had the chance to skate under the sun, but for the pros it wasn't the same, the rain came as a trouble maker and only 2 of 6 heats could skate. A lot has changed with the Montreal scene since the very first Classics in 2001.
NYC Street Invite 2011: Second Official Be-Mag Edit by Sam DeAngelis Be-Mag·August 29, 2011"There is a rollerblading festival going on under the highway bridge here in Brooklyn" I heard someone saying when we entered the venue. "People jumping over cars, grinding on a truck you have to see this, it's crazy". Yeah the New York City Street Invite 2011 was an unique experience for everyone involved. Billy O'Neill and Daniel Kinney (founder and organizer of BCSD) don't talk much they are doers and do things the right and professional way. I guess people recognize this and that's why the NYC Street Invite gathered bladers from all over the world to battle it out on some real street one-of-a-kind obstacles especially created and set-up for this contest. So Billy and Daniel did not only take care of the obstacles for the contest, they also made sure that they've had all permissions and insurances needed for the contest. We at Be-Mag also felt that this contest was going to be a big deal, so we decided to send a team to New York to cover the event properly. But good things take time.

2011 NYC Invitational edit by ODNY Be-Mag·August 23, 2011Usually ODNY wasn't suppose to cover this competition but a good friend was awesome enough to hook up the media pass. Immediately when looking at the obstacles, the NY Invitational sets it self apart from all other comps. Offering unique spots to skate like an old beat up Cadillac, constructions tubes, U-haul trailer, and a huge dumpster to name a few. Not to mention that this comp was very reminiscent of the old IMYTA competitions. The obstacles were all put together by the craftsmanship of Jose Disla & the C.O. team along with other NY locals that showed up the day of construction to support and offer a helping hand. New York owes such a great competition to the Bernal Heights Collective - a medicinal marijuana shop from San Francisco whom sponsored the events large prize.
