First, Belgium’s Antony Pottier got sick the night before he was supposed to leave the country, and therefore had to cancel his whole trip to Japan. Then, the batteries for Maxime Genoud‘s digital camera got confiscated by zealous Chinese customs during his layover in Beijing. Thus, in the matter of just one day, our two photographers were out, and the well-prepared plan to cover the FISE‘s first ever World Series event in Hiroshima, simply annihilated.

Enters Miguel Martinez, blading’s most international MC, along with his Olympus camera, a love for architecture, signs & design, a solid sense of humor, and the habit of constantly snapping pictures. We had barely even asked for his help that the man already had a selection of 200 photos loaded up on a USB stick. And after a long trip back to the old continent, we had finally wrapped up our extensive report on this highly successful trip to Hiroshima!
It is little to say Miguel saved the day. However, the process of making the final selection for the article had also been really frustrating, given the amount of great photographs we had to work with. And focusing mostly on the contest itself, we had to leave out many scenery shots, cool portraits, weird architecture pics, and more importantly, Miguel’s true impressions of Japan themselves.
Thankfully, that’s precisely what our Tour Life series are for, and we are glad to finally share some more of these with you: Tanoshinde!
