Joey MCgarry just posted up his and Todd's masterstroke "Better than Baseball". Quoting Monique (Joey's sister): "Better than Baseball is a film which celebrates the human body. The obvious example is of course rollerblading. I can't even jump two inches off the ground on rollerblades. Actually, I can't even stop properly. So to me, I am astounded by what the body is able to achieve. Especially the slow motion shots. It's like bloody ballet. In contrast with the feats of these rollerbladers, they also show extremely normal, everyday actions (such as eating, drinking, sleeping, driving etc). These are necessities to us all, and the way they are placed in the film is priceless. Life's basic needs are shown here....because to these young men, rollerblading is a necessity of life....just like eating or sleeping. I also enjoy the dozens of odd and hilarious facial expressions throughout the movie. This goes along with the intentional inclusion of editing glitches to demonstrate that we are in fact only human. However, it balances nicely with the grandiose of the rest of the film."

We love what RollToronto.ca is doing. They are not online uniting the Toronto Rollerbladers, they are also reactivating some Toronto legends including Mike Lukewich and Brandon Kaplan! After watching this edit, there is still one question popping up: "If this is left-over footage, so how does the real footage look like?"

The Southern Legacy has a strong history in Rollerblading. Thank god they share their history with us! The Chaz Sands Invite comes up this weekend (May 8th). Last year Simon Mulvaney (in cooperation with a lot of other people) created a special Chaz Sands Invitational Documentary. This is episode 4 providing you a special look at the professional competition and awards ceremony. Watch this and you will get juiced for the competition.

Oli Benet has been selected to be the protagonist of a new TV ad for Stimrol Shift gum. The ad will be broadcasted in approximately 15 countries including Russia, Sweden, Denmark, Greece, Turkey, Italy etc. - beginning from May 9th. Here we've got a "Making-of" of the commercial for you. When the project is released, millions of people European-wide will be confronted with a good taste of real street skating presented to them daily. This year's Bling Bling Contest started with a night session on April 23th (one day before the main contest) at the Forward Freestyle Skatepark in Roeselare (Belgium). Here are a few clips of the session.

PARK2 unites some of the best park skaters from all around the globe and makes them online available for free! This project is realized by a huge list of editors and filmers. Ignition embarked on a weekend trip to Linz (Austria) with Philipp Preuss, Chris Obermaier, Jojo Jacobi, Gabriel Hyden, Stefan Horngacher, Dave Mutschall, Andreas Wagenblast and Dominik Wagner. They all attended the RollLinz Contest that took place at the 24th of April. Patrick Piesik from Berlin put together this amazing flick documenting parts of the trip and the contest. Enjoy it.
