If there is one thing that might be confusing about this year’s first edition of the Copenhagen Blade Days, it is the fact that it took place right before Roskilde Festival. Sunny days, friendly faces and beautiful smiles, long parties and short nights were soon to be followed by more sun, friends and smiles, more parties and sleepless nights… In short, these two weeks were so insanely good that it is sometimes hard to put everything back in place.

If there is one thing that leaves no room for doubt, it is the greatness of it all! The Blade Days welcomed the very best bladers in the world, who competed in front of Fælledparken’s supportive crowd, and many scrutinizing eyes all over the planet, thanks to the most legit live broadcast our sport has seen! In the end, Nick Lomax took the win after some heated finals, followed closely by Copenhagen’s very own Jacob Juul, and their fellow teammate Montre Livingston in 3rd place.
If there’s something even better than watching pro compete though, it seeing kids put on a pair of blades for the first time, and the smiles, laughter and occasional tears that result from it. The amazing people at R-A-D have understood it well, and with 150 pairs of skates for people to try, workshops, specialized coaches and juniors contests, it is safe to say that this aspect was indeed the greatest success of the entire weekend!
If there is one last thing to be said about the 2015 Blade Days, it is that seeing the many generations of Danish bladers work together, and put together such an event is not only refreshing, it is also an inspiration. Thanks to Kaspars Alksnis’ great photography, here is your chance to take a look yourself, and hopefully find some inspiration in there too. While many of our peers live in the past, in Denmark you can see the future already.
