Roskilde Festival - The Show day and the last tour days - Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at 10:02 - By Grand

The show day started not as good as we hoped it would start. The weather wasn’t good at all and it looked like the should could be canceled again, although the weather forecast was good for those days. However, the weather stayed fine aka. cloudy the whole day and we got luck.

Our show time was around 2 p.m. till 3 pm. Horn, Aragon, Sean, Chino and everyone else were already warming up for hours and so it happened that Horn dislocated his knee or something like that 2 minutes before the show started. Domink Wagner wasn’t able to skate due some drink expierences from the night before and Tyron Ballentine fucked up his ankle on the park session the day before. Not the best start for everything. However, the show must go on. Gijs Piss aka. official show moderater wasn’t impressed from things like that at all, he just went on with his job. His job for example was, to kick out a DJ lady, because she wasn’t willing to play the kind of music he wanted for the show and stuff like that. However the show started with some nice tricks from Aragon, Adil, Mark Stamer and so on…after 15 minutes of show we went over to the head to head battle to find “The Roskilde Team” for the Game finals in Hamburg. Names like Jacub Juul, Mark Stamer and Andreas Wagenblast tried to show up with amazing tricks. Andreas Wagenblast definitely made the hardest shit on the whole comp. Stuff like Royale, Savanna or Backslide to Kindgrind (winning trick) on the big drop ledge down from the halfpipe. He and definitely impressed the big crowd over there. At the end there was another small show again, where everyone just tried there best tricks again. All in all it was just good to see rollerblading at such big event, next to other extrem sports.

Just too bad, that we had to leave the festival this day to Hamburg to get our flights back home. In Hamburg we chilled 2 nights and killed the “Lord of the Ring” Saga – extended versions. It was the best way to let the tour run out…

Thank you to everyone who let us stay at their place, like the Hedonskate crew, Andi Braunau, Martin from Dresden, Domink and Uwe, Christian Berg. Thank you to Seth, Anders and Christian Toxboe for the competition and the good organisation and Christian Berg for all the help in Copenhagen and at the festival. Thx to Gijs for the nice moderation and all the dutch guys for being so dutch, thx to Jojo Jacobi and his crew for busting out and coming over there.

I hope there gonna be another show next year and some of you gonna come out there to get this crazy festival expierence.

Roskilde Festival - the night before the show - Friday, July 07, 2006 at 06:26 - By Michael_B

I need to tell you about the night before the show. We chilled a lot on the days before the show started. And so it came, that we found our way to the school aka. hotel earlier as planned. Back in the hotel, everyone first went into their rooms to chill a little bit a to do what ever somebody got to do. After some time we all met in the hall downstairs for some pool and tablesoccer games. In the mean time I killed some beers, while Murda killed me at each single game of pool. However, you probably know that there isn’t anything more logical than the walk to the toilet after some beers. So I tried to find a toilet in this school, which wasn’t possible for me – sounds funny, but it wasn’t. But I found something else, a open gym and a closed swimmingpool. So I ran to all the guys like a small kid was running to a christmas tree to tell them those great news. Everybody was off the hook. Too bad we couldn’t unlock the swimmingpool, but the gym was good enough too. Besides Colin and Horn everybody was down there playing aka. fooling around something. Horn and Colin were sleeping so deep, that we couldn’t wake them up. However, we played basketball for ever and changed later to badminton. So it came down, that Chino and Murda played against Sean K. and myself. First game was won by Chino and Murda with 2 points difference and the second game was won by Sean and me. After those 2 games we fooled around with soccer a little bit. I think we stayed in the gym for 1.5 hours or something like that. Only thing I can remember is, that I couldn’t walk on the next day, because I wasn’t used to sport like that for a long time. But we all got great fun and everyone could get rid of too much energy which was saved in the last days.

Roskilde Festival - The first show day - Thursday, July 06, 2006 at 06:38 - By Michael_B

Hello everybody,

I told you already, how big the festival is and how our arrival was. We got a good night and even a better breakfast in school style, but it was fun.

However, the main reason why we went to Roskilde was the show we had to do over there. The festival organizers asked Be-mag if they could do a show there. So we got 2 days with around 45 minutes to fill. Next to a show, we wanted to make a qualification for the European “The Game” Finale in Hamburg. But it isn’t the best if you have to do a show on a festival. You are asking yourself why? Pretty easy, because there is a unwritten law somewhere, that it has to rain at festivals. Especially when the country isn’t in the middle of europe and the weather is more sea site style. For those who don’t know. Denmark consists of 2 islands and so the weather is changing pretty fast. In the first night there was even a hard thunder storm in the morning and on our show day, the weather didn’t want to change. But the forecast for the next days was better, so our show was cancelled, but therefore we got more time on the next show. The schedule of the festival was full and quite hard to change. They ahd bmx and skateboard shows too, live-acts at the skatepark and a big screen to show the soccer world champion ship which was full allways.

However, we got a day off and so we could relax with some beers and old friends which were arriving step by step at that time. So the day faded into the night and after everybody was faded too, we went back to the school…ahhh…hotel…

Finally - The Roskilde Festival - Remembering the festival - Tuesday, July 04, 2006 at 04:26 - By Michael_B

Finally we made the way to Roskilde and to the biggest festival in Europe. I am pretty sure that 99 % of our readers don’t know Roskilde, so I want to introduce you to that small city in the west of Copenhagen. When I saw Roskilde the first time on the map, I thought it was a small town with 10.000 inhabitants, something like a small suburb, but I was completly wrong. Roskilde is a city with around 100.000 inhabitants (if Chris Berg was telling me the truth) and not that small. You can find several gas stations, 2 Mc Donalds (well that definies a big city for me ;) ) and a bunch of different grill houses aka. Kepab places. But I can tell you, it is fucking hard to find an ATM over there. I was driving several times through the whole city to find an ATMm achine. However, life is hard, get over it…hahaha…back to business, back to the festival.

When we arrived there and Seth (a local who helped with the organization) gave us the tickets and I was really anxious to see everything. The whole festival area seemed to be big as hell. Entrance West, East, North, South, Gate 16, 17, 18, Entrance all Stages, Artists Entrance, Media Center, Festival Entrance and so on…Festival service guys all over, you could see those orange dressed dudes everywhere. Where ever we were going, somebody checked out armbands aka. tickets if they were the real deal or stolen. However, before I could check out the festival area, I had to bring Burnt (you can also call him Marcal Schubert aka. Be-mag Filmer) to Copenhagen back, because he had to leave the Tour. So driving 30 minutes back again to Copenhagen, get him to the train…short stop at Mci Dees and 30 minutes back to the festival again. And one more time: entrance west, east, north, gate 16 up to 19 chaos. When I finally got a parking place and found the way into the festival – just because there are many entrances, it doesn’t mean it is easy to get in – I was stoked to see how big the area was.

Every 30 minutes or whatever, people arrived with their festival own train. Tents were being built up everywhere and a big colourfull terrain was heading up to me. And in the far east (or was it west) I could finally see the skating area and the big ass TV. Your cinema is nothing compared to that one…The skate area was really good for a festival, even if it would be just a normal skatepark – Vert, Street, Pool and Miniramp. Everything what a skating heart would want to skate was there and a crowd of people, because there was a soccer game on the big screen and so the people where all over watching the last group games of the soccer world championship. After some drinks in the VIP area (or what ever this was) we tried to find our way to the hotel…which wasn’t that easy…

Ok, perhaps somebody wonders why we were staying at a hotel on the fucking biggest festival? Honestly I don’t know, because when I arrived there I just wanted to stay at the camping site, but in fact, everyone was tired of touring and of sleeping in different places every single day. So they prefered to have a good night to be prepared for the show. Sounds good to me too…

But in fact, we didn’t stay at a hotel, because all hotels were booked out from big bands, like Gun’s Roses, The Strokes, Placebo and so on…for example Gun’s Roses took 3 hotels at once…a whole hotel complex. So the festival management organized a school outside of Roskilde and made a hotel out of it. That hotel/school looked like a perfect place to make a horror movie to us when we arrived there. Beside the fact that nobody, really nobody was there, it was also in the middle of nowhere…only agriculture fields around us and a wood, nothing else. Only an envelope with our keys for the rooms and the numbers of the rooms. Everything was open and everybody could walk in there and could have killed us with no problems…but back to the real life. Everyone got his own student room, with bed, real showers and so on. That was more than tight, to get your own private sphere back, after staying with your tour colleagues together for so long.

Copenhagen Stop - Monday, July 03, 2006 at 04:08 - By Michael_B

Hey Folks,

the Copenhagen stop was great…it took us over 5 hours from Bremen to Copenhagen, but the journey over there was so beautiful. The landscape in Denmark is just too nice. However, lets get back to business. When we arrived there Christian Berg and everyone else from Denmark already chilled at a nice BBQ. After we sorted all sleeping accommodations out, we tried to find our way to the party whith the premiere of a new Danish video. Since Horn also got his birthday, we were out for a great night.

After a good night and some Kepabs for lunch again, we went to the beach. This beach was just the best. Some nice ledges, rails and sick ledges and tons of sand. In the evening we went to one more spot which was fun too…Copenhagen definitely got some nice spots, but also something more important: beautiful and hot girls. You can see how riding a bike 24/7 effects a body…

On the next day we went to the beach again, but this time just to chill. Hanging around, enjoying the girls and the sea… In the late afternoon we found our way to the Roskilde Festival, which was another great thing on that tour…so the last days of the tour started…I’m gonna tell you more about the biggest and oldest Festival in Europe in the next days…

Roskilde Festival - First Days by Gijs - Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at 07:59 - By Grand

okay so figure this one: Mike mails me asking: hey man you wanna come out with some skaters from back there and MC this demo thing at the Roskilde festival in hotdamn denmark? Would I? YouŽll get paid too.WOULD I?
Of course I would. So a couple of weeks and fifteen hours in a dingy but blessed camper VW Van later I find myself on the continents Ž biggest music festival. Fuckin awsome. Check out the site to see who is playing and imagine me smiling. Okay has anyone noticed so far how all this is just about me? And I aint nobody so lets move on right? Lets. Lets move on for instance, to the Yankees who are on this tour. The Yanks in their infinte understanding of the world around them have opted NOT to sleep and stay at the festival site, eg the site with all the girls, drugs, booze and girls, but to stay at a senior citizens’ hotel instead. This may sound well, unwise, to say the least but that’s not all. While some of the biggest names in music today, and cool names too, not dumb ones like Britney or Pink, fly IN to Denmark for the festival, the Yanks will actually be flying OUT . Well… Okay man…say hi to Bob Dylan at the airport fom me would ya, I wont be joining you. Again about me, not right so a small thing about Forstner then. On his behalf I will mention that he has not been able to update this since Sunday and since I wanted to talk about me, he wont be able to do that now either. Too bad. On a last note, I will add that Hornacher is not too happy with the hotel option either. Respect where it is due, which is Europe, of course. On today then: it rained, no official skating, but unofficial entertainment nontheless did occurr. More tomorrow, on me, I hope at least. Did I mention that tomorrow is my birthday? Who cares about that???? Ahw forget it… If there’s photo’s with this why arte you reading?
