Planning for this year’s Brooklyn Blade Comp would be difficult being the comp would become pretty significant for the New York City Blade scene. The location for the competition was the Golconda Skatepark in Downtown Brooklyn, which showcases the diversity of Brooklyn and its heavily trafficked area would draw attention to bladers from across the country.

As the quad comp began to wrap up, bladers started showing up for warm-ups and with local talent like Chino Sinn, Jo Kap, as well as other greats like Jeff Dalnas in attendance, I knew this would be an exciting day! As the day continued and everyone was giving 100 percent effort, the dominant bladers started to separate themselves from the large pool of competitors.

As the finals started to progress, Jo Kap managed to sneak in a 900 that won him the best trick. Cody Forrester earned himself a third-place slot and Jeff Dalnas with a diverse line of tricks and switch-ups won himself a close second and Chino Sinn managed to take home 1st place, accumulating more points throughout the preliminary rounds. Amber Rivera took home 1st place in the Bladies comp and ended up competing in the men’s category placing pretty high overall. With no juniors signed up this year, I did manage to give away a couple of pairs of skates to a few of the kids in attendance.

Big shout to all our sponsors, volunteers, and everyone that made this comp happen, and a special shout to Emily from Rollerchicken and Bell Ibara for organizing a huge Quad competition.  Next year will be bigger and better so stay tuned!

Thank you to all the sponsors of the Brooklyn Blade Comp : Red Bull, Blank Rolling Products, Bamboozle Project, Murdah Militia, Ghetto Community, One and the Same, Mind your Grind, Skatemobb, Subaru Adventures, Flynns Barbershop, Go Sports USA and the Blade Calendar.
