It is especially rare for a skater’s name to be immediately synonymous with their hometown and it especially difficult when your hometown is one of the biggest and most popular metropolitan cities in the world, but Billy O’Neill is THAT guy. No one better represents the City That Never Sleeps quite like Fish. The NYC legend came up skating the rough streets of NYC and has always represented the city well with his memorable showings dating from the early Nature Video series, later on to the flashy B Unique videos, and even more recently with his own brand Mesmer‘s videos that showcase their whole team enjoying the city’s iconic skate spots.
To wrap up another memorable year, Fish has returned with his most recent video profile which he shot with JP Primiano, of ButterTV, appropriately titled “New York State Of Mind“. Despite the duo having to work around both of their busy schedules in the frigid winter temperatures and limited day light, they came through with another mind-blowing new profile that shows Fish only getting better with age.
And as you can expect from ButterTV, JP perfectly captures the big-city aesthetic and shows what makes skating in NYC so lively and memorable. From the constant flow of pedestrian crowds, the rising skyscrapers, the busy street traffic, and the rough terrain of the skating obstacles, JP paints a beautiful picture of the Big Apple. And you can’t go wrong by scoring the video to a timeless soundtrack of NYC hip-hop staples such as Wu- Tang Clan’s Raekwon and Ghostface Killah! Peep the master at work!
