Atlanta Georgia’s roots in inline skating run very deep. From the early 90’s, Atlanta has been home to some of the most progressive skaters, from it’s early years of innovation from Tom Hyser and Andy Kruse, to the historic run of Walt Austin, and the iconic skating from Julian Bah, among countless others, Atlanta has always been a mecca for blading talent. One individual that has been carrying the torch more recently for the Big Peach is OG blader and videographer extraordinaire Richard Williams. Richie has been heavily involved in promoting inline skating culture, and not just specifically “aggressive inline”, to the people of the A for decades now. Whether it being from his weekly meet-up sessions, organizing skating competitions, or filming with the numerous talented skaters of the area, Richard is constantly on his grind. Yes, it is cliche. But it is the honest truth. Rich lives and breathes blading.
Now to bring us to Richard’s new offering to the world, a full-length video filmed primarily in Atlanta titled “Equilibrium”. And no, we aren’t talking about that bad knock-off Matrix movie featuring Christian Bale either. “Equilibrium” is a stylish video which bridges the gap between our multiple skating disciplines and shares both the similarities & differences that are found within our inline and quad skating groups. The video is a rare blend of aggressive blading, quad skating, interpretive dance skating, slalom, and big-wheeled recreational skating, and shares the stories from some of the city’s most dedicated wheeled participants.
