The Truth 2 Interview

THE TRUTH 2 RECEIVED AN AMAZING RESPONSE FROM SKATERS WORLDWIDE? WHY DO YOU THINK THAT THE TRUTH 2 WAS RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE TOP RELEASES IN THE LAST YEAR?

I suppose it could be a number of things.  The industry seems to be leaning towards skater-run establishments these days. Also, more people can appreciate The Truth since we’re not connected with any company; this DVD is not a team video.  We also had an all-star cast with this one.  Who wouldn’t want to see a fresh section from Montre and Broskow, or a come-back Fish section?

WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS FOR THE TRUTH 3?

There are no official plans for The Truth 3 yet.

AWHILE AGO, WE DISCUSSED THE PRICING OF THE TRUTH AND YOU WAID IT WAS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THIS BE A QUALITY PRODUCT AND THAT ATHLETES GET PAID FOR THEIR SKATING WITH THIS RELEASE. TELL US MORE?

The Truth 2 was slightly higher in price than most other skate DVDs for a legit reason.  We are paying each skater for their section.  The few extra bucks for each for every DVD sold goes towards each rider that has a profile.  I’m sure kids don’t mind paying $24 for a video when their favorite skaters are getting paid like they should be.

MORE AND MORE PEOPLE RELEASE THEIR DVD’S ONLINE NOW SINCE PIRATING IS HAPPENING MORE  AND MORE. DOES THIS HOLD YOU BACK?

Not really.  It’s always more official having an actual DVD rather than a folder on your computer with a bunch of files in it.  If anyone out there is like me, they like having DVD’s with chapter selections and bonus footage you most likely won’t see online.

THE TRUTH HAS AN EAST COAST FOCUS. DO YOU HAVE ANY PLANS OF ADDING OTHER PARTS OF THE WORLD TO THE TRUTH PROJECT?

We would love to!  It’s just hard sometimes to get everyone to travel somewhere further.  We did a Truth tour in the summer of ’08, but that was only a northeast tour.  We are not opposed to having other locations featured at all.

WHAT IS YOUR INSPIRATION FOR FILMING?

My inspiration is probably knowing the satisfaction you get once the video is done.  Holding it in your hands, seeings hundreds of kids at a premiere, seeing your project sell out, and knowing that all the work you did has paid off.  Seeing kids all over the world digging your work is really inspirational.

IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT WERE THE TOP DVD RELEASES OF 2008 AND 2009?

I liked ON TOP because it looked like it was so much fun to film because of the tour. The level of skating in DRIP DROP and the production quality in the ONE video were also impressive.  Ivans’ video SHRED ‘TIL YOU’RE DEAD just came out and I think that overall that was my personal favorite.  A bunch of gnarly skaters on a cement skatepark tour shot in two weeks with some of the best skating I seen in a while.  Ivan always does nice work too; he’s on his shit.

THE EAST COAST HAS BEEN GETTING A LOT OF EXPOSURE AND BUZZ LATELY; WHAT ARE WE GOING TO SEE FROM THE EAST COAST IN 2010?

The scene here in NY has been growing so much in the past few years. It seems to be happening everywhere else slowly also.  The whole East Coast is holding it down, but I can tell you the Northeast is going BIG in 2010.
