SO, WHAT’S UP, OLI? HAVE YOU SKATED THIS COURSE YET?
Not yet, but, yeah, I’ll be skating a bit. I don’t think I’ll be competing, but I just want to be here to catch with all my friends, hang out a bit… I enjoy skating with the kids too, just promoting rollerblading.
SO, YOU’VE BEEN HERE A FEW DAYS ALREADY, RIGHT?
Yeah, came in a few days early. When you travel it’s usually so quick and you end up missing what a city has to offer, so I made a point to get out here a few days early. Done a load of stuff already! The first night we stayed at a place called IMA – it’s an old warehouse that’s been converted into studios and an artist community and it’s close to a lot of museums in the area; there’s a lot going on there so that was really cool seeing that side of Berlin.
Checked out a few records stores too that I’ve been wanting to visit. Again, skating is great, but there’s so much more than just skating that makes skating great; it’s because of the opportunities to travel and really see all the different parts of a culture. So, it’s been good. And than I head back tomorrow after the Clash.
SO, WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU THIS YEAR?
I’m constantly working on Nimh. On Kingdom Mag. We’re working through a lot of concepts and ideas for Kingdom right now and so I’m busy with a lot of meetings and moving that all forward. Also the new Nimh video finally just wrapped up and will be released in the near future so was busy with that.
Other than that been having a lot of conversations with the European Nimh team and working on new ways to keep developing and promoting the company this year and how to best promote rollerblading.
TRAVELLING ANYWHERE ELSE THIS YEAR?
It’s still too early to tell, so I’m not sure yet. With the economy and the industry right now everyone’s pretty cautious with their dollars and making sure not to overspend too early in the year. I’m sure at some point I’ll be going to go to America maybe with Gabriel and Mark – so we’re talking about doing some sort of trip to the US with just us and hitting a lot of cities over there…
