You might have noticed something weird this year about Winterclash — It’s an app. Your next questions should be how do you make an event an app and how does it even work? We’re gonna help you through making sense of Winterclash. Johannes Jacobi, ringman behind ‘Clash, gave us a guide to this year’s winterclash app which we have condensed and spruced up with our special humor.
Now if you haven’t been following up on this year, we’re in a pandemic that makes groups of bladers communing together a bad idea. If you’ve been to Winterclash in person, you know social distancing is not physically possible at Area 51. For those of you who have never been, trust us, there isn’t anything like being crammed into a tightly packed space with a thousand people hyped on tricks. Back to the point! The pandemic has brought on a unique experience for blading — a global winterclash using smartphones. It doesn’t matter if you can’t be in Eindhoven this year, you can celebrate with old and new friends where ever you are using this app developed by the Winterclash team.
You’re asking yourself, how is this going to work? How can be a part of it? How do I compete? What do I win? Can I still jump off my own ramp and do a belly flop? (* We don’t recommend it)
Here’s the Be-Mag Winterclash 2021 dummy guide for all of you on blade time and haven’t picked up a ticket yet!
1. PICK UP YOUR PHONE
You need a smartphone to start your entry into Winterclash 2021. Pop up your app store, search for the Winterclash app which is available for iOS and Android. Get the app and wait for it download.

2. PURCHASE A TICKET FOR WINTERCLASH
Tickets to Winterclash is 20 Euros though our bigcartel page. Things are rough this year, so if you cannot afford a ticket due to the situation in your country or personal reasons, please send an email to [email protected]. The Winterclash team will provide free tickets available on a case by case basis.
You’ll receive an email within 24 hours giving you login details. (Took us 5 minutes to receive.)
3. LOG IN TO THE APP!
Using the login information in the email (check your spam folder just in case), you’ll follow the directions straight into the app. You’re in!
4. START A TEAM
Call, text, and email your friends. Send invites and create a team of up to 5. If your friends have a team, slide into their DMs and get an invite. You can also go solo and be a team of one.
5. GET A LAY OF THE LAND
Come on in, come on it! A big part of the Winterclash experience is our tradeshow. The app has a digital tradeshow for you to discover brands and riders. Take you time and explore.
6. PARTICIPATE BY SOLVING CHALLENGES
You’re asking yourself, I know what Winterclash is like. It’s about the interactions you have there. How are they going to engage me on a phone? With 250+ challenges based on a point system. For every challenge you solve, you get a certain number of points that ranks you with teams in your country and all over the world.
While the challenges are public today, you’ll only be able to solve them starting February 18th. Some you can answer in the app with text, others involve you uploading photo and video.
All of these challenges were created by pro and am skaters, people in media, videographers and photographers, as well as companies. Some challenges involve you doing a trick, skating an obstacle, or taking photos. The Be-Mag challenge asks our fans to film a ‘One Minute One Spot’, the best of which we will pick and feature on Be-mag.com.
7. YEP, THERE ARE PRIZES AND GOODIES
By participating in the 2021 Winterclash, you ensure that next year we have a clash to come back to. It also means there’s a good chance this gets integrated into the main event. There’s the benefit of turning Winterclash into a truly global community event. How often do you get to say that? You also get to virtually/physically hang with your homies, see bunch of cool blading from all over the world, and do so without wearing pants (we suggest you do though, save that for your work zoom meetings).
Brands have their own prizes and perks for their challenges, though the big first prize is what you and your crew should work for! You’ll be handsomely rewarded in 2022 with:

8. DON’T FORGET TO HAVE FUN!
This is supposed to be a fun weekend for the whole blading community. It isn’t just for pros. What your skill level is or where you’re from doesn’t matter. This is about bringing us all together and having a good time. Ask anyone who’s gone to Winterclash in person and see how they’re glowing from all the festivities.
