MY 2024 WITH CAMERON TALBOTT

2024 was an exceptional year for inline skating. With the community slowly adjusting to some level of normalcy in a post-Covid world, skaters from all over are making the most of their time and enjoying life and all that comes with it. That often means spending time with friends and loved ones, traveling to new locations, and of course, strapping on the skates for a fun session. We decided to speak with some of Blading’s best and brightest stars to see what 2024 brought them.

Beginning of the year I’m usually a bit more low key, I try to embrace the shorter cooler days for what they are. Good time to rest and reset. The weather kinda forces you to chill and I’m fine with that. However this year I had a few projects in the works that I wanted to see through so I was more active with filming then normal.

As the year progressed I was able to put together and release several parts with several different people. I don’t really have any specific goal when it comes to skating. Mainly I just enjoy pushing myself on my own time and terms, having a great group of people here in the Bay Area helps keep me motivated along the way.

It’s great to be able to create with friends and like minded individuals. As far as this year I have a few things already in the works that I’m excited to share soon. Other than that I will work on filming some more stuff as long as the opportunity continues to present itself.

I took a solo road trip back home to Montana with my dog, always feels good to go home. But this trip really felt good, nothing like being on the road with a good dog and a loose idea of what you’re doing. Also took a trip to New Orleans and had a lot of fun. I travel so much for skating, it was nice to mix it up and just go for myself and not have skating be the focus. I really enjoyed taking little weekend trips up the coast or to the river, just simple summer living.

I love all kinds of music but I kinda went on a country binge this year haha. I’ve always loved country but kinda dug more into 70s country like Hank Williams Jr, Waylon Jennings, some Charlie Rich. Haha I’m sure people might not peg me for a country fan but hey, I’m a Montana boy, I grew up with it.

I try not to have too many major expectations when it comes to skating. Mostly wanna have fun and break a sweat. But I was fortunate enough to connect with some great people and was able to film a lot. I released 4 different parts this year and I’m pretty hyped on that.

That’s a tough one, I take lots of photos haha and I have lots of folks I hang out with that shoot a lot. Honestly just pictures of the ocean where I hike every morning with my dog, feel so lucky to live by the ocean. I probably have 30 plus version of the same photo where I go every morning haha.

Honestly I just wish I could go home more, but I feel that way all the time. I love San Francisco and the life I’ve created here but I miss home and my family up north. So I always wish I had more time to go back home. Especially in the summer, nowhere like western Montana in the summer!

I lost my grandfather this year whom I loved very much, think that just put more things in perspective for me. A reminder of how precious our time is and how important it is to make the most of it.

Honestly just my friends and family really, all the love and support really means a lot. As far as skating goes I think just seeing everyone get out and create stuff makes me wanna go out and do the same. It’s full circle ya know.

I’m looking forward to a few different projects seeing the light of day that I have in the works haha. But other than that I’m just hyped for summer and getting to be with friends and family, hopefully getting some solid river days in!
