Spare a minute of your time to to chat with Washington blader, master of switch and natural, Jake Dotson. Funny story, the footage for this OMOS was lost for nearly a year, with a poor render being the only copy that Jake and his filmer could find. Trust us, if we had uploaded it, you’d have cried. Lucky for you folks, a high res copy managed to survive on youtube. Unluckily for you, you now get to feel like a worse skater after watching Jake murk this spot.
Some things are worth the wait.
Tell us a bit about yourself Jake.
I’m 30 years old from the Seattle area. I’m a father of 3 daughters, our newest addition was just born over this last summer in July. So life’s pretty busy!
We’ve seen your insta and your baptism into fatherhood. How do you balance your blade life and your family life?
Oh man, balance is the constant struggle. Things are always changing, so it requires a lot of adjusting. I make it a priority to get out to skate at least once a week because it’s the one thing I enjoy doing that lets me get some exercise and just focus on that one thing for a few hours. I think everyone around me benefits when I’m able to get out and clear my head.
What keeps you strapping up at your age?
At my age?? Lol, 30’s the new 20!
In an ideal world, top 5 blade spots bucket list?
Bucket list spots, that’s hard. How about bucket list cities. I’d like to cruise Barcelona for obvious reasons. Everything out of there looks unreal! I got to skate a little bit in Hawaii last year and that was one I can check off. Would love more time there. Never spent much time on the east coast. I’d like to skate around New York City. That always sounded fun to me. Some of those indoor parks in Europe look insane too, would be amazing to visit some of those and have a big session with some people. Since this is my Ideal world, I’d have another Barn Burner weekend at Skatebarn with all the old homies and people in town to skate. Those were always amazing times!
