2024 has been an exceptional year for inline skating. With the community slowly adjusting to some level of normalcy in a post-Covid world, skaters from all over are making the most of their time and enjoying life and all that comes with it. That often means spending time with friends and loved ones, traveling to new locations, and strapping on the skates for a fun session. We decided to speak with some of Blading’s best and brightest stars to see what 2024 brought them.
TAIS COLARES
Where did you start 2024?
It was a very special moment when I signed a contract with Razors to create a skate with my name. I was super excited because they gave me complete freedom to choose all the colors and details. It was amazing to see the project come to life just as I imagined!
Where did you end in 2024?
Fulfilling the dream of having my own pro skate with my name was indescribable! I exceeded my own expectations in street sessions, expanded my repertoire of tricks, and pushed myself even further. Without a doubt, it was a year full of achievements for me.
What are some of your favorite memories from this year?
I had the opportunity to take a trip to Los Angeles with an all-female skating crew, and it was an unforgettable experience. Skating alongside such amazing women was inspiring! Additionally, my trip to Miami for the Franky Morales Invitational was very special because I got to reunite with friends I love. And, of course, I can’t forget the day my skate launched—it was simply surreal!
What were some spots you traveled to this year?
This year, I traveled to Miami twice and Los Angeles twice as well. Both were enriching experiences in every way.
What were some of your favorite musical artists or songs that you enjoyed this year?
Post Malone
John Legend
Russ
Vintage Culture
What are some photos or videos that sum up your experiences in 2024?
What were some goals that you accomplished this year?
The launch of my pro skate was undoubtedly a milestone in my career.
What did you wish you had done in the year but missed the opportunity?
One of the toughest moments was not being able to compete in the World Championship in Rome. I was selected to represent Brazil, my country of origin, which meant so much to me. However, due to the immigration process to live in the United States, I wasn’t allowed to travel while it is still underway.
What is something that made you grow as a person this year?
The support from my friends and my desire to always be the best version of myself helped me grow as a person and as a friend. This year was filled with learning and personal development.
What is something that kept you going or motivated you this year?
My biggest motivation always comes from my friends and family. They are my foundation and the reason I keep moving forward with determination.
What are you looking forward to in 2025?
Next year, I hope to do at least two major street sections and travel even more! My biggest wish is to visit Brazil after two years without seeing my family.
