Waking up Sunday on your last morning in the camp you feel a tidal sense of sorrow as the realisation sets in that Roskilde is over and you must return to the outside world. You’ve survived 10 days of rollerblading, music, too many beers and the most random sights with the best crew during your survival at the best festival on earth.

The last 3 days of the festival have been a beautiful mix of campsite parties and electrifying atmospheres at all the acts I watched. A few of my favourite shows have to be Biffy Clyro, Stormzy, Tenacious D, The Last Shadow Puppets, New Order and last minute replacement act Immortal Technique.
Travelling through the shanti town of tents on the way to the festival shows your body drifts into a musical trance, tilting your head from one campsite to another you soon become your very own Roskilde DJ dancing along to everything from Cher to hardcore techno preparing you for the loud night ahead. The food at Roskilde has also been pretty good for festival food, my favourite spot from the week has to be the Thai place, had to hut that place up 3 times this week – the tastiest and best value for money for sure.
Packing away what’s left of your life into your backpack, you start to feel the rugged effects Roskilde hangover. Not enough naps and headache remedies could prepare you for the epic journey home. After sleeping on a cold hard floor for 9 nights, dreams of your own bed and a hot meal are starting to become a reality – there is light at the end of the tunnel.
For now Roskilde is over and it’s time to say farewell to friends and family, you’ve made amazing memories and now it’s time for the recovery period (which may take a week or three)!
