Jon Julio Interview / Valo JJ.1 Video Edit - 05/10/21
Be-mag: How does it feel to have the valo video project premiered all around the world?
Jon Julio: Man, it feels great! All the hard work and I can't believe it's done..
How was the filming and the editing of the video? did the dvd turn out the way you wanted to have it?
It was great to work with Pat. The dude is amazing..I've always been a huge fan of his videos. “Them Apples” is one of my favorite videos of all time… Arlo said it best..”It's like you're talking with you're editing”
In the beginning I had a lot of ideas; I wanted it to have an old school video feel(vgs, England video)..I wanted to show history, the team's dedication for the brand, and I wanted to show the future..VALO!
Pat did an amazing job in capturing all of those elements. But the best thing is that after you watch the video you get a vibe and an idea on what Valo is all about..
I am very proud of this video and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. We all put out everything for this and it shows.
Where do you see valo going next year?
Just constantly progressing with EVERYTHING. Media; video, print, online and especially products.
We are stepping up on the clothing side.. We've merged with Empire Distribution USA and have just finalized our Winter line of tees and soft goods.. they will be in shops in November 2005..
On the hard goods side, also in November my pro skate will be released in 2 (HEMP ONLY) colorways black/grey and beige/white. We will also finally have the white and green tv.1 out here in the USA....We've had them in Europe already but not in the USA.
2006, we have an Erik Bailey pro design that we are working on and some new innovative ideas that we will be slowly introducing later on in the year.
What are your dvd plans for the next year?
We have something different in store for 2006. But we will definitely be releasing a dvd next year
How long did you work on your section?
That's hard to say..This one was like off and on skating for the past couple years…In between working and traveling sometimes I would have dry spells and wouldnt skate at all for a month….Then someone like Oli would come into town for a few months and I would go on a rush and skate everyday for 2 months straight..haha but that doesn't say much cause I don't get clips like I used too..
How do you bust out one good section after another all the time?
Haha ..well thank you for that compliment..It's all fun man..I just do my thing and have a good time. The people who surround me always inspire me to keep going..
Any words to all rollers out there?
Motivate! Get shit done..Cause who else is going to?
