Friday afternoon at camp - Friday, July 07, 2006 at 16:28 - By JERO

Camp life just gets better and better. We had a swap day for the sports, for gymnasts and skateboarders to try rollerblading, and vice versa. The parks were filled with girls learning how to drop in, and some are allready grinding. Watch out guys, these could be your future competitors … or wives.

Another round of dodgeball went off today. This was skaters and staff only, no gymnasts, which means you can throw harder and head shots still count. Fullfil your dreams of hucking a ball at a skateboarders face and getting cheered on for it. After a hot day of skating and dodgeball, the dunktank suddenly sounds like a great idea. Everybody got soaked, and the kid who got drawn on in his sleep last night got a little revenge. At lunch time, rumor has it that Rob G ate his entire lunch while standing on his head on a cafeteria table. Crazy camp rumors. It just gets better and better, Lakeowen is the place to be.

Campers Perspective: Michael Garlinghouse - Friday, July 07, 2006 at 14:34 - By JERO

Hello there be-mag buddies, this is Michael Garlinghouse here at Lake Owen Camp. This is my 6th year coming to camp here at Lake Owen, and it only gets better every year. The facilities are great, the staff are the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and all the fellow campers are cool cats as well. I have never been bored at camp, there is sooo much to do at all times. Beyond all the amazing stuff to skate, the 3 street courses, 12 ft vert ramp, foam pit, and all the random boxes and practice rails, there are plenty of other fun things to do as well. At the lake front you can swim, go tubbing, wakeboarding, and the blob of course. There are a lot of nightly activities like dodgeball, or you can just chill in the skate shop and watch a video or hang out in the canteen and play pool.

Let me tell you a little bit about today so far… First off, waking up and walking to the cafeteria in the cool, Northern Wisconsin morning breeze is a feeling that never gets old. The meals here at camp are not your steriotypical “gross camp food” meals. There are many differnent options every meal to eat. The food at camp is something that i actually look forward to big time before i come every year. After eating way too much again, its off to play dodgeball. Theres nothing like some good games of dodgeball at 9 in the morning. There is a special feeling you get when you throw balls as hard as you can at skateboarders and innocent, young gymnast girls. This warm, fuzzy feeling you get is only comparable to the feeling you get after your mother tucks you in bed at night, don’t act like you don’t know what im talking about. After we owned the skateboarders of course, haha, we played team “skate” in one of the indoor skateparks, and the loosing team had to go in the dunk tank. Lunch time came, and we had a wonderful meal, where Rob Gurrero did a head stand on top of one of the tables. The rest of the day is free-time to skate and chill.

Thats all for now friends. hope to see you at camp next year!

Fun in the Gym - Thursday, July 06, 2006 at 13:27 - By JERO

The dodgeball sessions went off last night. Nobody holds back, and gymnasts, skaters, campers and staff all fight for dear life trying to get out of the way of flying red hots. The battles were intense. Afterwards trampoline stunts were in full effect. Check out the photos of Todd aka Captain America doing the huge gap from the trampoline to the foam pit.

Hanging out on the lake - Wednesday, July 05, 2006 at 18:26 - By JERO

After a full day of skating, it’s nice to kick back and enjoy the lake. We took a pontoon boat out for a cruise around the lake, and found a rope swing along the way.
