Undercover Matthias Ogger Pro Wheel Review - 06/06/05

Ogger WheelsUndercover is one of the newer wheel brands. It is part of the Powerslide Aggressive Family and therefore the expectations are running high. As you can easily see they really try to set themselves apart from all the other wheel companies out there. They manufacture their wheels with special colours. The wheels colours are not only printed. Undercover uses coloured urethane. The aim of this is that you can see if someone is riding Undercover at first glance, even if the print of the wheels isn’t there anymore.

Undercover is a really international company and this is what I like about it. People from all over the world are getting recognition and receive pro wheels. But this seems not only to be so with Undercover but also with all the other Powerslide companies. They try to treat the skaters from the old and the new world as equal as possible.

Matthias Ogger is a great friend of mine and an amazing skater. Besides this he is one of the first German skaters to receive a pro wheel. I honestly think that he is one of the best skaters Europe has to offer. Just look at how he does True BS Savannahs on big kinked rails. I almost forgot how he was skating a few ears ago. The progress he made is ridiculous. Whenever he skates he skates fast and solid. Matthias is always skating as if he is being chased by something and wants to get away. I think that the thing he wants to escape from is “reality” or “normal life”. For Matthias this is reason enough to skate fast as hell and to out skate everyone else.

All these facts make it quite clear that he will definitely not skate a very small wheel. So the 57mm which were chosen for his pro wheel are perfect. They are still small enough to grind without problems but they also provide enough speed for everyone. But be careful if you want to skate them in combination with suspension frames because Kizer recommends using wheels no bigger than 56mm. The hardness of 88a is perfect I think. I prefer wheels with 88a because they have a good grind and absorb a lot of impact. Especially in Austria, where it rains a lot, wheels with good grip are a necessity.

An outstanding skater needs outstanding equipment, and this wheels colour is really outstanding. There is no other wheel with such a strong and appealing green colour on the market right now. The colour is also great for marketing purposes. This is because Undercover wheels use colours which are recognisable for everybody without having to take a closer look.

The feeling you have while you are skating these wheels is rather good. There is only one thing I disliked. The wheels seem to wear down a bit faster than some other wheels but his should be no big problem because they are also a bit cheaper than wheels form other brands. So it Undercover wheels are definitely no bad choice. One very positive thing is that they don’t chunk or decore which I really appreciate.

So if you are after some new colour scheme for your skates buy these wheels!

Check my reviewv of Undercover wheels on www.inmag.pl soon, The first edition (Oli Bennet ones) hadvery weak core, the second edition is much improved. Generaly Benets are good wheels, but they are not any better then most other budget wheel companies. Stick with Eulogy`s or Heats.

The wheel rides maybe very fast but the most important thing about wheels is that they live long, when you skate almost everyday hard street they are DEATH in two weeks maximum. Al the wheelcompanies are the same, the best wheel is the old majestic Senate wheel, they live long, also like Heavy ( old k2)
All the new stuff is rubbish, really, I’m sick of it, better making a Wheel of 50 euros of even 70 so you can skate some months

I decored 3 out of the 4 i had like the core basically was broken, it was ridiculous the wheels was still big and it pretty much fell apart. If they didnt decore they would definately be one of the best wheels.
