Copenhagen Real Street Competition - 02/08/01

We are inspired by Jon Julios IMYTA - we think the only way to really find the best skater in a competition, is to take it out to the streets. So we wanted to do something similar, but still different. Since real street competitions are becoming the chosen format of new competitions all over the world, we wanted ours to stand out.

In order to do so we found sponsors to help us finance our big plans. A new Danish cellular phone company called "Club Blah Blah" has backed us up, so that it is possible for us to rent a double decker bus. On top of that we have also equipped the bus with some serious speakers, a DJ, and a bar. We are sure that this will create a really good atmosphere, and bring the contest to a higher standard. Even though non-skating-oriented companies have nothing to do with our sport, they will help it grow. That is why we accepted such a company to sponsor our event.

When arranging real street competitions in Europe, especially Denmark, it is difficult to find 3 or more qualifiable spots to use for a real street competition. The spots are scattered all over town. That is the main reason for choosing to have a bus. Other attempts of real street competitions in Denmark, hasn't worked out, because people couldn't find the spots. So some competitors showed up 1 or 1½ hours too late, and then missed the competition. This time, everybody will stay together all the time and on top of that have a blast!

If you want to be in the competition, then come to Copenhagen August 4th, and meet up with everybody else at the first spot, which is "Bryggen". Directions to the first spot can be found on http://toxboe.net. You need to sign up, if you want to participate. That can be done on the same web page or from 12:00 to 13:00 on the first spot.
